Barry J. Fisher, LTCP

Barry J. Fisher, LTCP, is the founder of Barry J. Fisher Insurance Marketing and now serves as an Executive Vice-President of Borden Hamman Insurance Marketing Long-Term Care Insurance Division. For more than two decades he has been one of the nation’s leading wholesalers of long-term care insurance. He is also the Executive Vice-President of America’s Long-Term Care Insurance Experts a national LTCi marketing organization, with more than 50 life and health insurance brokerage agencies, based in New Braunfels, Texas.

Barry is a pioneer in long-term care insurance marketing, sales and training and has been a leading figure advocate for independent agents in the health and life insurance industry. He currently serves on the National Association of Health Underwriters Legislative Council and as the Chairman of the NAHU’s Long-Term Care Advisory Committee.

Barry is a past-President of the Los Angeles and California Associations of Health Underwriters and has served in various other roles including CAHU Vice-President of Legislative Affairs and CAHU-PAC Chairman. In 2002 the California State Legislature recognized him for his leadership in legislative advocacy in the fields of health care and long-term care and in 2003 he received the National Association of Health Underwriter’s Legislative Achievement Award. In 1999 Barry co-founded the American Association for Long Term Care Insurance. As AALTCi’s first President Barry initiated the creation of the Long-Term Care Professional (LTCP) designation and worked to make long-term care insurance a mainstay product offering for life and health insurance agents and brokers.

Barry began his life and health insurance career in 1976 with Metropolitan Life. He became an independent personal producing general agent in 1980 and began his insurance marketing career in 1990. In 1995 he established Barry J. Fisher Insurance Marketing, Inc., a brokerage general agency focused on long-term care insurance with an emphasis on educating and training life and health insurance professionals in the sale of LTCi.

Barry has served on the California Department of Insurance Curriculum Board and has participated in various CDI workgroups pertaining to Legislative and agent education issues. He is a frequent contributor to industry publications on legislative and long-term care topics and is a sought after speaker at industry meetings and events.

Susan M. Blais, LTCP

Susan M. Blais, LTCP, is an Executive Vice President of Barry J. Fisher Insurance Marketing, a brokerage general agency focusing on long-term care insurance (“LTCi”) products, which is now the LTCi division of Borden Hamman Agency. She and her husband Barry have a track record of helping agents increase their revenue by promoting these essential risk-management solutions to their clients.

Their brokerage provides unique support to agents and financial planners, by refining concepts and providing cutting-edge sales tools to enable them to expand their product portfolios quickly and easily.

Blais led a successful career in the health insurance industry for 26 years. She began in business-to-business sales at Group Health Cooperative of Puget Sound and retired as senior executive of a billion-dollar division of PacifiCare Health Systems, a Fortune 100 company. She held senior management roles in sales, marketing, product development, and operations at TakeCare Health Plans, FHP, and WellPoint Health Networks.

She has worked in every market segment from individuals to national accounts, and has a deep understanding of the worksite sale and the role of the independent insurance producer. Her background in implementing technology has enabled her to upgrade and update information systems with a focus on user friendliness.

Blais has served on the boards of several organizations, including American Red Cross of Ventura County, California Association of Health Plans, California Association of Health Underwriters (Inland Empire and Los Angeles Chapters), MaxiCare Health Plans, Inc. and Phillips Graduate Institute.
